First Glimpse!

This year has been a wonderful adventure for me into the artistry of cake baking and decorating... and as long as I am not being lied to by my wonderful friends and family, I have been told that I have a natural talent for it. They have all convinced me to post pictures of my cakes up on a blog and maybe test the waters into taking my cakery art to the next level of a business instead of just for the family.

So WORLD... here is my art... judge as you will... honest opinions are always welcome (good or bad - I always love constructive criticism)!

This was my daughter's birthday cake! The Barbie doll cake was made of chocolate cake with my daughter's favorite barbie doll in it. The oblong cake is a "confetti" cake with princess figurines on top!

This "Speedy" cake was for my son, Wyatt's 7th birthday. He loves cars and he wanted a car. The cars themselves are toys, but everything else is 100% edible!
This "confetti" cake is decorated with chocolate frosted roads surrounded by food colored, vanilla frosted grass with flowers.

This "beachy" cake was for my mother-in-law's 52nd birthday (yes I know the candles say 21). The chocolate cake was covered in blue colored vanilla "ocean" with sour gummy sharks. The "beach" is a lightened chocolate frosting with sour gummy people lying on sour patch rainbow strips and a gummy person playing in a brown sugar "sand castle".

This Thomas the Train cake was made for my son's 3rd birthday, and probably the one that I am most proud of. The cake base is strawberry flavored covered in chocolate and green colored grassy frosting. The track that Thomas and his carts rest on are made from melting chocolate.

The "mountain" with the tunnel that Thomas is coming out of is made of a chocolate cake covered in a "sky blue" vanilla frosting with melting chocolate used to form the tunnel. Thomas, himself, is a toy train and the cargo cars are all made of chocolate cake, covered with purple and red vanilla frosting. The rocks are peanut and peanut butter M&Ms, the wheels on the carts are mini Oreos.

I hope you enjoyed! There will be more cakes to come as I get to make more!
